The short version
Your conversations are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. We built it that way on purpose.
What we don't collect
- Chat history: conversations live only in your browser's local storage. We keep no server-side record of what you write. Clearing a scene, or clearing your browser data, erases it everywhere it exists.
- Accounts: there are none. No email, no name, no profile.
- Third-party AI: messages are processed by our own models on infrastructure we run โ they are never sent to outside AI providers.
- Analytics or tracking: no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no cross-site cookies.
What does exist, and for how long
- In your browser: your chat history per scene and your age-confirmation choice, in local storage, until you clear them.
- In transit: messages pass through our servers to reach the model and stream the reply back. They are processed in memory and not written to storage.
- Operational logs: our infrastructure records basic technical events (error codes, timestamps, IP-based rate-limit counters) to keep the service working and prevent abuse. These logs do not contain the content of your conversations.
Your side of the screen
Because history lives in your browser, anyone using that browser profile can see it. Use the quick-exit button (or press Esc twice) to leave instantly, use a private browsing window if you share a device, and use "new scene" to clear a conversation.
Two more tools on the scene-picker screen: set a PIN lock encrypts your stored conversations on this device so they are unreadable without your PIN (we can't recover a forgotten PIN โ only erase), and erase everything removes every trace of Dovenook from this device in one step.
